TET RALLY 5-27-10 05/27/2010
Dear WCPC, This year at Tet I had an awesome! Time I has a awesome time last year too. I think everybody else did to. On my team I was the Caption,Grace and Frances and Kyla.We did really good. My pony was fast and did not knock down any rails. Demi was there she did good and Tessa too. They went on catch teams. We stayed at the best western and Kyla her mom and I went swimming. I did real good at shooting, but this is my second year at Tet and I have been practicing longer than my team mates. I try-ed my best at running and and did well I did not stop to rest. I had my cleats on and I think it helped me out. I sucked at swimming but you cant be perfect at everything ha-ha, My mom said I should take swim lessons. My be I will. I want to thank Linda K. and Kim B for all the lessons and help. and Mom and Dad for all the money and stuff, thanks. See you at the show,Noah Add Comment TET RALLY 5-25-10 05/26/2010
Dear WCPC, Tetrathlon rally was a blast! We arrived at Donida around 7 o'clock Saturday morning and set up 2 stalls and a tack/feed room. After the horses were comfortable and our gear was unloaded we attended an official briefing. Afterwards, my sister and I brushed Spot, wiped out her nose and dock, and put on her bridle. We both took her to the jog-out. Next, we had a few hours before our team's first safety check, so we went and walked the running course early. We also had time to watch some of the most advanced Pony Clubbers compete in their jumping rounds. Then we ate lunch and Grace and I prepared for our safety check. The safety check went smoothly and we were complimented on our turn-out. Now it was time for Grace to warm-up. Kim B. was our coach, so she helped us prepare for our rounds. While I was waiting for my turn on Spot, I watched other riders go. We also walked our courses a second time. As for our rounds, Grace went clean and fast. Kyla also went clear. I went clean but slower Noah went clear too. We were all very happy with our rides. Turnbacks went well. Next it was time for the running. I did my 500 meters first, then Grace went. Then Kyla did 1000 meters. Noah also did 500 meters. All of us kept running at a steady pace the whole time. We were glad that the show committee provided bottled water. Saturday night we sent the horses and the equipment home in our trailers. Sunday was rainy and cloudy, but all of us were excited for the shooting phase. Just to put this in perspective, I was the only person out of 40-some competitors who didn't hit the target at all. Zilch. None during my practice round, none during the competition. Oh well, my teammates did well. Grace got a few, Noah did awesome, and so did Kyla. Swimming was also very fun. Kyla did 100 meters. Grace and I did 50 meters. Noah did 25 meters. It was a very nice pool. I got a few mouthfuls of salty water, which was surprisingly not chlorine flavored. Overall we got 6th place out of 11 teams. Great job everyone! -Frances GREG BEST CLINIC 4-16-10 05/25/2010
My Notes:: ALWAYS focus on the solution, never the problem- ie: land from a jump on the wrong lead, or horse is bucking, or you went off course…FIX IT as it is happening instead of thinking “oh shoot!” Create the horse you want in front of a fence and keep it over the top and on the other side then… Straightness, Collection, Lead Change before you plan your next jump. Balance in turns, then forward to fence. Never CONTRADICT ie: leaning forward, but pulling back.. or looking and leaning in one direction (next fence) when you should still be riding Straightness, Collection and Balance. Make a jumping plan, and STICK to the plan Ride with your focus on the outside ear, over bending or looking to the inside before the turn creates inbalance. Greg does not like to trot fences, only canter them, especially with young horses. He says it forces the horse to change his stride and therefore rebalance right in front of the element. This is too confusing and they take their mind off of the jump. -Bailey POLE STAR FARM XC CLINIC 5-16-10 05/25/2010
Hi WCPC, We had a great time at the XC camp!!! We all learned a lot like the 10min box,I had no idea what is involved in this sport. Noah when we left that morning for the clinic, said I don't think this XC is for me. Party boy can't do it I don't want to I'am scared. This was only the 2 time on a cross-country field with PB. He was felling nervous because of the fox hunt in March he went to with Holly, when his pony was real naughty and took off with his sister at warp speed. So Shea said change his Bit and we did and at the end of the day Noah said he Rocked this XC thing and wanted to go to the XC rally. This clinic was a confidence boost for Noah and his pony. It was A fun day nice weather good people and fantastic horses/pony's. Holly was jealous she wanted to go but had to stay home and study for a exam. Thank you, Shea and Carrie ! I would like to report back from the 2010 tet. rally. I left my house at 4 a.m. on Saturday. Then, we set up the 2 horse stalls and tack/feed room. My pre-novice course consisted of 7 fences, and a slip rail and a gate. I went clear and within the time limit, which my fellow team members did also. At that time were in 1st place for HM and jumping combined. For the running later in the day I succeeded in almost meeting the time for 500 meters, but I was 2 seconds slow. Today I received only 3 points in shooting, but I was at a nice speed for swimming. Overall our team(Kyla, Noah, Frances and I) received 6th place out of 11. I hope to soon get my own air pistol so that I can actually be able to practice. Also, for next years swimming I hope to get a faster time and practice more so that I can use the starting blocks. And, I will train more in advance for the running of course. Hopefully next year I will compete in the Novice division. Tetrathalon, I think was a very fun and worthwhile experience for all of my team!! -Grace | AuthorWCPC Members. ArchivesCategories |
