My Notes::
ALWAYS focus on the solution, never the problem- ie: land from a jump on the wrong lead, or horse is bucking, or you went off course…FIX IT as it is happening instead of thinking “oh shoot!”
Create the horse you want in front of a fence and keep it over the top and on the other side then…
Straightness, Collection, Lead Change before you plan your next jump.
Balance in turns, then forward to fence.
Never CONTRADICT ie: leaning forward, but pulling back.. or looking and leaning in one direction (next fence) when you should still be riding Straightness, Collection and Balance.
Make a jumping plan, and STICK to the plan
Ride with your focus on the outside ear, over bending or looking to the inside before the turn creates inbalance.
Greg does not like to trot fences, only canter them, especially with young horses. He says it forces the horse to change his stride and therefore rebalance right in front of the element. This is too confusing and they take their mind off of the jump.
